Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 10/13 Surf / Sea State: lumpy Air Temperature: 23 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 21.07 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 13.50 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
What a top month July has been for windsurfing with 14 sessions breaking 20
kts 9 times and covering approx.270 n/miles !!! . Three sessions stand out
- a top day when I windsurfed around Hayling, a top day in the Solent
sailing to the Isle of Wight and a top day at Felixstowe covering 43
n/miles including a 17 kt hour - not bad for bumpy Felixstowe :)
Back to today, didn't get back from work until gone 4 :( and I think the
wind had been blowing well most of the afternoon, by the time I got to The
Dip Mark Smalling had already rigged 6.6 but the wind had dropped so had
gone with 7.8 and with wind gusting go 22 mph rigged my 7.8 and took my 133
to the water. By the time I had my suit on the wind had dropped again :( I
decided to try the sail but on the 147 lt and I was way under powdered and
after a couple of runs and with Mark rigging 8.7 I came ashore and rigged
9.4. This is the first time I have used the big sail on this board in the
sea and it worked fine :) There was only about 10 mph on the water and you
had to flounder out, if you tryed to plan you lost too much down wind, I
sailed out through the bumpy water by the red and white bouys before
turning and you could plane back to the beach by running down the waves. So
it was a 1 star evening sailing out and a 3 star session on the return to
the beach - still a good windsurfing month :)
